SCHOLARSHIPS

SVOR seeks to recognize two students who demonstrate a profound dedication to community service, along with a genuine passion for the ocean, water safety, and the preservation of our local water ecosystems. Ideal recipients will show a fervent commitment to environmental protection and active involvement in some aspect of water safety.

A single application will be considered for both the SVOR & Jayden Pepitone scholarships. SVOR will determine the recipient of each award.

 

JAYDEN PEPITONE SCHOLARSHIP

The community has be devastated by the tragic loss of Jayden Pepitone, a bright and beloved 24-year-old who took his own life on May 5, 2025. 

Jayden was a beam of light to all who knew him—kind, dedicated, and full of promise. He graduated from Southampton High School in 2018 and earned his degree from Baruch College in 2024. He served as a Coopers Beach Lifeguard and frequently trained with Southampton Village Ocean Rescue.

We established this scholarship in his memory to honor his life, service, and lasting impact on our community.

This scholarship is not only a tribute to Jayden’s life, but a powerful reminder of the silent epidemic of depression affecting our youth. Mental health struggles are often hidden behind strong faces and bright smiles. We hope this can serve both as a symbol of remembrance and a call to action—a hope to encourage greater compassion, awareness, and connection—so others who are struggling might feel less alone and more supported. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a graduating Senior of Southampton High School

• Must live in the town of Southampton

 

Selection Criteria:

Applicant must submit a brief essay (limited to 250 words) directly on the online application form (using the link below).
