The cost of this Village Program is $100
Payment is due after the evaluation or on the first day of the participant begins. Checks should be made to the Village of Southampton, in the memo please write, "for SVOR Jr Lifeguard / Cadet Program"
*Rashguard is included with the fee
*Southampton High School Students' fees will be covered by a donation until funds are depleted
15+ year olds are also eligible for the
Red Cross Bayfront / Waterfront / Pool Lifeguard Certification Program
JUNIOR LIFEGUARD (Age13 - 14)
CADET PROGRAM (Age 15 -16)
SVOR's Jr Progaram is designed to improve ocean swimming techniques with an emphasis on ocean safety. We teach basic lifeguarding skills while having fun. We hope to encourage participants to one day become certified ocean lifeguards. Skills are taught as “lifeguard competition” events. As long as ocean conditions permit juniors & cadets will train in the water.
On more challenging days, as a safety measure, the focus shifts to entries and exits of the ocean. Participants will greatly improve their ocean awareness and comfortability. Participants are encouraged and not forced to partake in activities.
Participants who chose not to participate in an activity must remain with the group or a designated instructor.
Participants will be in the water most of the sessions, unless conditions are prohibitive.

If it's very stormy (provided there is no lightning) the program will run under the pavilion at Coopers

Participants must sign into each session. Parking should not be a concern. Participants are usually dropped off.
You do not need to be a Southampton resident to enroll in this program.

SVOR Summer Junior Lifeguards - age 13-14
The SVOR Junior Lifeguard Program trains ages 13 and 14 in water safety and ocean awareness. Individuals will build open water swimming skills, gain confidence entering and exiting the ocean and learn rescue techniques needed to become a future lifeguard. Junior Lifeguards also have the opportunity to compete at local competitions.
SVOR Summer Junior Lifeguard Cadets - age 15-16
The SVOR Lifeguard Cadet course is uniquely designed for 15 year-olds who have taken the Junior Lifeguard Program and want to continue. This class promotes beach safety and awareness, trains individuals to become future ocean lifeguards. 15 year olds are eligible to become Red Cross pool or Bayfront lifeguards and are encouraged to pursuit receiving an ocean lifeguard certification upon turning 16. Cadets also have the opportunity to compete at local competitions.
