Class 5 - Thursday, July 6
Class 6 - Tuesday, July 11
Class 7 - Thursday, July 13

Class 11 - Thursday, July 27 (make-up class - pre-test evaluation class)

Final Practical & Written Exam Dates:

REQUIREMENTS
Participants must:

Be 16 years of age by the scheduled test date

Complete a medical exam within 90 days prior to the test date
-
1st time certifying participant must attend a minimum of 10 complete training classes & can only miss 2 classes & those 2 classes cannot be consecutive classes
INITIAL EVALUATIONS - SWIMMING SKILL LEVEL
Initial Evaluations take place on the student’s first day, at the start of the class – during the first 30 minutes. Participants must be evaluated for swimming skills before beginning this course.

Must be able swim 50 yards in 35 seconds), without the use of goggles / fins, OR possess a current American Red Cross (ARC) Level II (Still Water or waterfront) Certification

Must successfully complete the prerequisite skills evaluation. (Failure to have attained the appropriate skill level could pose a safety threat to themselves and to others in the class)
-
Be able to swim 300 yards front crawl in the ocean, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing without goggles or fins.
MAKE-UP CLASSES
On occasion the training officers will create additional make-up classes for serious participants who intend to take the certification final exams (written & practical) to become certified ocean lifeguards.

(SCCC) POOL

INSTRUCTORS: Liz Sans & Josh Belury
POOL: Indoor pool is 25 yards - Junior Olympic size
up to 13' deep
there is a locker room & showers
COST: Cost for the Course is the pool time
$10/day - 7 days = $70
Fees will be paid directly to SCCC daily
(additional certification costs for members will be covered)
ABSENCES: If you miss a day in course 1 you can make it up in course 2
BLENDED LEARNING: There is online material you are responsible to read & review.
All Blended learning must be completed before the course end date:

COURSE: Lifeguard Course, online material (Blended Learning) + 1 CPR class (scroll down to see CPR schedule)
CPR - Red Cross CPR IS part of this LG course
*to complete the course you must come to 1 Red Cross CPR class

All SVOR Members can also sign up for any SVOR CPR class without taking the Red Cross LG course
SVOR Members and all Lifeguards in NY must certify ANNUALLY for CPR
